Update to WP 5.5 causes error in text input fields with the “/” auto fill

    Hello all

    I’m experiencing a particular issue with the text entry fields of card payment gateways when upgrading to WordPress 5.5 and above.

    Essentially the expiry date entry for card payment gateways is the format MM/YY
    Hence when a user enters for example 0822 it will automatically fill this field as 08/22

    However after updating to WordPress 5.5, the entry filed no longer automatically enters the “/” symbol
    Now when a user enters 0822 it will only auto fill as 0822 and so the expiry date will not be in the correct format.

    This same issue occurs with several different card payment gateway plugins so it’s not a specific plugin related problem.

    I have reverted back to WordPress 5.4 and the issue is not present so it’s something to do with the 5.5 update but I can’t figure out what…

    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
