Do you have a plugin or any codes in your function.php that may take out this option?

The <--more--> tag is working just fine as you can see on https://commercial-real-estate-tucson.com/wordpress/page/3/

It only works on archive/post listing pages. Not single post pages.

So where do I change this “single post page”? I dont see it in “Writing” or “Reading?”

The more tag generates a link to the single post page. So, if you could get it to work in a single post, you’d have a post page that only pointed to itself and no one would ever read your full post.

Why would you want to have a more tag on a single post page?

I agree with esmi on this… you do not put this on single post pages. This is for your readers to be able to click on and see an excerpt. If you want to step into having excerpts…. You could install a plugin like Shane says, but I recommend this, which puts less load on your server and you would not have to use the ‘more tag’

Put in your theme’s function.php file:

add_filter('excerpt_length', 'my_excerpt_length');
function my_excerpt_length($len) { return 75; }

In your index.php, change the_content to the_excerpt

Your original link pointed to a single post’s page – not your blog’s Home page.

Your Home page template (index.php) used the_excerpt() – not the_content(). Try editing index.php in your theme and replacing <?php the_excerpt();)?> with<?php the_content();?>`

I changed

to
the_excerpt

And without doing the functions.php part above, it works? So why is this working with the index.php change only?
