    Hello,
I would like to edit a conditional stylesheet (ie.css) that is currently sitting in a subdirectory in my theme (/style/ie.css). Does anyone know if I can do this via the dashboard. The file does not show up in the “edit themes” page in the dashboard; unfortunately I do not have ftp access to this site.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

  • Ads far as I know, it’s not possible to edit files in a theme sub-folder via the WP Editor.

    Thanks Esmi.

Bummer. I was afraid this might be the case. Any chance one can create new files to be added (eg: create a new css file) within the WP editor, or is it the same dilemma?

    Thanks again.

    I think that’s “No” again. Sorry. ??

OK, so I guess my only alternative is to recreate my theme on my desktop, add the files I want/need, move files out of sub-directories etc, and then republish my theme (or rather, add a new theme) via the dashboard. This would also work if I needed to create additional template files – like a second custom page or something like that.

Does this make any sense as a “work-around”?

    Thanks again, for your help.

Its not a ‘workaround’, its the right and proper way to do it… according to me. ??

Ditto. It has the added benefit of allowing you to keep local backups of template files when revising them too.

Thanks to both of you; I’m glad to know my instincts are working!
