    Hi there,

I’ve noticed that after updating all plugins, my website displays the “white screen of death”. The debug log saying the amount of memory has been exhausted, changing the limit to 1GB fixes this, but then it still crashes because the execution time exceeds 30 seconds (from the debug log). And the WordPress dashboard is ridiculously slow (or unreachable) when this is active as well.

Yea that was reason enough to disable it, initially we were thinking of only having this plugin enabled time to time to view and take advice on SEO keep then leave it disabled otherwise (in order to provide a smooth website experience). But I’ve been convinced that this is better as a 24/7 plugin. Is there any advice or info on this as well please? But mainly I’m looking to fix these errors and performance advice, what can be done about this? I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but is there anything else? We’ve got the latest WordPress version and PHP V7.1.

    Thanks a lot!

@aidanww @immanuelconrad We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue after a recent update.

If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin.

The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Hi Carl B,

Thanks a lot for that. However, after that, I’ve got no further with this, I couldn’t find any conflicts and uninstalling + reinstalling had no effect either – Yoast SEO still heavily impacts my site speed. Is there anything that can be done?

    Very much appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hi,

Can you confirm that you are using the latest version of Yoast SEO for WordPress 15.1.2?

Also, can you check if your website is meeting the necessary plugin requirements — https://yoast.com/help/plugin-requirements/

So, even with a default theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only the Yoast SEO plugin enabled, you are still getting the ‘white screen of death’ error and getting the ‘memory exhausted’ message from your debag log?

Is it a relatively large website with thousands of posts and pages? Were you already able to run the ‘SEO Data Optimization’ under the WP admin dashboard > SEO (sidebar) > Tools?

    Hi,

Apologies, I did miss a couple of details on my latest reply. I have gotten past the error & memory exhausted message, I think this to do with updating to the latest version and changing some stuff in the config wizard. However, the latest available version for us 15.1.1?

Now the main issue is just the site speed when Yoast is enabled, this has been lessened a lot with the updates, but it is still a big issue – which is present even on default themes. Now the debug log only has nothing at all major, just PHP Notices.

As for the plugin requirements, I believe these are met (although I’m not certain about the MySQL version) and SEO Data Optimization has been used. This helped a bit, but the page speed is still not acceptable right now…

@aidanww Thanks for your reply. Regarding the mention of version 15.1.2, we apologize, that is the current version of our premium plugin. The current version of Yoast SEO is 15.1.1 so you are fully up to date.

As for the issues with the site speed, after the updates is the issue still occurring everywhere (meaning both the front and back end) or is it specific to anywhere in the back end?
