How to exclude archive from search results

    Yoast had been helpful with my SEO but I do not like how it makes my searches come out. It seems all over the place. I especially don’t want my archive coming up on search because the meta descriptions do not align with the archive results. Kindly refer me to where I can disable the archive search from showing on the yoast plug-in or refer me to another seo plugin that can do that for me without any difficulty. For anyone who wants to see what I am talking about, search “site:spiritualandlifediscussions.com”

    We understand you don’t want to see the archives page in the Google search results. However, we are not sure the exact archives pages you are referring to here.

    Are you referring to the main blog paginated archives page or the taxonomy archives pages or custom post types archives pages?

    If you are unsure about them, please share the exact archives page link here with us that you don’t want to see in the search results so that we can take a look at it.

    It’s the taxonomy archive pages. I already mentioned where you can see the archive pages. It’s by typing site and then my website.

    Hi @icysteph,

    We found tag and category archive pages in the search results. If you don’t want to see them or change the SEO settings for each one, you can tell search engines to remove them by setting a noindex tag.

    You can do this with Yoast SEO by changing the settings for them under SEO > Search Appearance > Taxonomies. For each one, change “Show in search results” to “No” and then click the “Save Changes” button.

    This will also remove the category and tag archive pages from the sitemap as well, but keep posts in search results. We have more information in this article: Noindex post types, categories, tags or other taxonomies.

    If you haven’t already, it may help to submit or re-submit your sitemap to Google and other search engines guide to encourage them to remove those archive pages after you change the settings:?https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/.
