• I finally upgraded from Google Calendar Events (that is, a v2.x version of this plugin) because that version stopped updating the calendar with PHP7. Big mistake!

It’s obviously the same product because there are still some “gce-” classes in the output, and it has imported the Google Calendars I was using with the previous version. But it won’t use the old ones, and the new ones are awful. While the pop-ups can be customised, why do you need to have a pop-up when the time and description could appear in the calendar grid? And the grid opens in the wrong month.

A sidebar widget can display a list, but there are no dates shown, and huge gaps with <p> elements full of <br>! Some of the old “gce-” classes are still present, so my CSS styles are used for some elements, but they are haphazardly placed throughout the list.

I may be able to work out how the classes are used so I can get the CSS to match my site again, and even hide the superfluous empty paragraph elements. It will keep me busy.

If you’re coming to this plugin fresh, then you may find it does exactly what you need, although not being able to customise the list view or the grid (just the pop-ups) is a major drawback, and a huge step backwards from v2.

If I’ve missed something, I’m sure the developers will reply to this review. I’m very happy to be put on the right track, especially if it saves me picking through PHP or even CSS.
