How to customize permalinks?

Ask you host if your hosting supports mod_rewrite, maybe they simply have to enable it. Same goes for htaccess. Not every host allows htaccess files.

Once you set the permalink, add this code in htaccess:

My host neither supports .htaccess nor mod_rewrite. What else can be done to customize the permalinks?

But when nothing works, there’s little options left. Btw. without htaccess your blog will work in the most basic setup, but there’s a lot of stuff (plugins, security, etc.) that might not work.

I do not have web.config file.

I have wp-config.php and options-permalink.php. How to go about it?

Almost pretty permalinks work for individual posts.

But, when I click on category (my blog has two categories), Page not found 404 error occurs. What is the solution for this?
