Gift Registry plugin, can something be tweaked or shall I look at creating?

    Basically I am looking at creating a site where a user can register and create a list of items that they would like bough for them (maybe for a wedding etc) just like an Amazon wish list but not store specific.

    This list would then be available to anyone that they tell, maybe by password protection for the guests, or simply by giving out the URL if that’s not possible.

    I have never done any coding before so would ideally like to use any plugins there are out there that could make this a reality. But if there’s nothing then I am always up for a challenge so will have a go at learning what I need to do to create this.

    I’ve created the databases locally using mySQL already to have a play with.

    I guess by using something like exec-PHP I could execute code, but, as I say, my coding skills are non-existent, so if anyone has a suggestion of an easier way forward please let me know!

    As an absolute basic set, all I need is for a registered member to be able to add entries to a database with custom fields, then other users to be able to search for that user, view their list, and mark if they are buying a gift from the list, thus removing it (or hiding it)

    Can I give a user a page, where they can enter multiple fields to a database. Then allow other visitors to view those entries and add to the entry if they have purchased an item from the list.

    I see you’ve put this idea out to a coder for development. I’d be interested to see the results of this once it’s completed as I’ve just had a client asking for the same thing.

    I’m in the same boat. I need a gift registry (wedding type) for a client who wants to sell the items from her site. Any ideas how I can get a registry like yours?

    I’m also in need of a gift registry plugin, so if anyone come across one please let me know.
