Instagram embeds aren’t working, WP 5.5.3

  • Using WP 5.5.3, plugin version 1.5, theme is Uppercase

    Instagram URLs are acting as they were before I installed this plugin. They won’t embed in the block editor or if I publish an article. They did work in one article a few days ago, but have been broken again since then. I am simply pasting in Instagram post URLs into the block editor or the Embed block, and both methods give the same error in the page.

    For posterity: the workaround is to paste an Instagram post’s embed code (ig post > 3 dot menu > embed) into an HTML block in the editor, then publish.

    Wait. Maybe it does work still??

    Embeds show as errors in the block editor and the article preview. But when the article is live, the embed seems to show up just fine. Will tinker more and update here

    edit: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t find a cause
