I downloaded this plugin two days ago and my site got jammed, the nav menu disappeared, and the page scrolling became incredibly slow. After two days of troubleshooting, my ISP found this plugin to be causing errors. After deactivating it, my site now seems fine.

Did anyone else have this experience? Also, I’m now worried that activating this plugin will cause my site to crash again. What do I do?

    Hi @droyed,

This plugin enables you to use AMP in your site. AMP imposes restrictions on the use of custom JS and also on the size of the CSS that your site can have on any given page. The errors you observed seem to indicate that your site is using a theme and/or plugins that are not AMP compatible, which means that they require custom JS to work.

You can use this plugin even if you have a theme/plugins that are not AMP compatible, but you need to configure it to be in “Reader Mode”. You can find more information about what this plugin does and how to configure it here: https://amp-wp.org

    Hey @albertomedina,

I’m using the Chaplin theme. Do you recommend I use the “Reader” mode to fix the error?

Yes, Reader mode is one option. Check the docs here: https://amp-wp.org/documentation/getting-started/reader/

I tried following your suggestion and have also looked at the documentation. However, choosing the “Reader” theme makes two versions of the site: Chaplin theme for desktop, and Twenty Twenty theme for mobile.

However, the Twenty Twenty theme for mobile changes a lot of the customisation I have done on pages/posts and render them visually unattractive and unfriendly. Is there a way to get the Chaplin theme for both desktop and mobile versions under the Reader mode.

I made a plugin which adds AMP compatibility to the Lovecraft theme, which is another theme made by Anders Norén. You may be able to adapt it for Chaplin: https://gist.github.com/westonruter/08bea805f2a31e7934dfeeb4e36bb662

    Hey @westonruter,

Thanks heaps for that. Will this be okay on the Chaplin theme as well?

Also, should I follow the instructions here:

Or do I need to contact my service provider to help me with this.

Those are the correct instructions for installation, but the plugin will need to also be modified to account for specifics in the Chaplin theme.

This may be something that @milindmore22 can provide assistance with, given that Chaplin is a popular theme. I also believe it shares a lot of code with Twenty Twenty, so the plugin’s core theme sanitizer may be able to also fix compatibility.

I will check the Chaplin theme for AMP compatibility and I will create a plugin which will address any compatibility issues, I will let you know once it’s ready.

    Hi @milindmore22 and @westonruter,

I followed your instructions. I downloaded the zip file suggested by Milind and also activated the AMP plugin.

But I ended up having the same issue. I went through the set-up wizard again and chose the ‘Reader’ option. The desktop version of the pages remained okay, but for mobile and other users, I had the same issue that I had originally posted on this forum.

Unlike the desktop version, there seems to be no way to keep the Chaplin theme for mobile and AMP visitors also.

I have now deactivated both the plugins ??

    Hello @droyed,

Thanks for getting back to us, Can you please enabled AMP plugin and compatibility plugin, choose the transitional mode and enable mobile redirection from AMP plugin settings. You may be using a non-compatible plugin which might cause issues.

Can you please provide your site URL and Site health info using this form so we can investigate it further.
