    Hello,

Lately with all backups I restore it fails to execute the “Others” and “Cleaning” sections.

Everything looks fine and everything works but I was wondering what those sections include and why it seems to be a permanent issue that these seem to not backup or restore correctly.

I’m glad if anyone has an idea.

    Cheers,
    Stan

    Hi,

To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the restoration log?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
You can send the log file and copy the contents into an online tool (such as https://pastebin.com/ )

    Hello Bryle,

The document length exceeded the max. for pastebin but I found another service:

    Thank you and best regards,

    Hi,

That’s the log of a backup, rather than of a restoration. It’s the log that was linked at the top of the restoration page. Alternatively, find it in wp-content/updraft using FTP or your web hosting file manager.

    Hello,

the latest one I found (that doesn’t look like a backup log) is this:

    https://privatebin.net/?b12395d7aea4097a#9DpqmAjfRZ6AYcfJ4YcztYJ6dBqvADEvkUcMin9p5D8Z

I’m pretty sure that was the day and time I restored the backup and the problem occured.

    Thank you and Cheers,

    Hi,

This restore log looks fine – no errors. You say that you are seeing errors every time you try to restore; can you send us a screenshot of those errors? (e.g. use https://snipboard.io/ ).

Ok, will do once I have to make the next restore.

    Ok,

I’m not sure if I can test the restore because I found out what “Others” apparently is.

I thought it’s some minor stuff but it’s actually worst case scenario. In my entire catalog of products,
attributes like sizes and colors haven’t been restored.

Of course when making the backup I didn’t get any errors. It’s a quite devestating bug.

Now I was wondering what would help.

    1)
Is it possible to read from backup log files where the error is?

    2)
Or should I just fix a few products and make another restore and get this log? (I assume the priblem remains and attributes disappear when I replicate this.)

I just can’t risk fixing my entire catalog for a few days and then may or may not have this happen again.

    Cheers,
    Stan

    Hi Stan,

This isn’t easy to piece together, because it doesn’t all make complete sense. You say:

I found out what “Others” apparently is.

“Others” are files in the wp-content folder, excluding wp-content/plugins, wp-content/themes, wp-content/uploads. The first two of those are plugin and theme files; the latter is the media library (and other uploads stored by other plugins). But those are all *file* (in the case of the first two, fixed and unchanging, whereas the latter is the user-uploaded content). They are all separate from the *database*. And it’s in the database that WordPress (specifically, WooCommerce) stores product data, purchase data, categories, tags, product attributes and all such things.

Have you at any time restored your *database*? Restoring “others” will not touch the things you mention, since it doesn’t touch the database.

    Hi David,

So I did replicate the issue to be sure. It happened again, attributes disappeared from my product information. Backup was made without error messages and restore showed the red “X” for Others and Cleaning. FYI, this is just an example backup. The same issue occurs for every other backup I made lately.

This is the log of he original backup:

    https://privatebin.net/?ba90ed98d9257ac0#B2HikPikarD9huyQwfQ1Zhkd2cefVKGMShNuPJ1tG71z

This is the log of the restore:

    https://privatebin.net/?37cc7a9ea42efec2#CXaGe6Hirogvhp3tqEVM4NtNunoxKfCmVNCrXo71xDYf

It’s a peculiar issue but a horrifying one because of all the work it entails to fix this for every product.
I love Updraft, it’s the first time I actually have a serious issue with it that I can’t wrap my head around.

Are you willing to share the backup files with me? If so, please post at https://updraftplus.com/ask-a-pre-sales-question/ and include the URL of this support topic. I’d need to know the ID of a specific product that is lacking attributes.

That restoration log appears to be incomplete. If you open the log file in a text editor on your computer, does it finish with the same line as shown as that privatebin link?

    Hello,

I compared the original log file with the one on the privatebin link, they’re the same.

I wrote a message with all info to the link you posted.

    Hi Stan,

Thank you. We’ve received the ticket into our system at updraftplus.com and I will continue the conversation there.

The friendly support took this issue to mail with me.

To whoever interested, the problem was my crappy host (inmotion). The restores failed because the “Physical Memory Usage” (as it’s named in cpanel) aka server RAM was exceeded during the restore operation and that’s how the restores weren’t properly completed.

It works when I do full restores bit by bit (first database, then plugins, etc.). This way my RAM can handle it and I will change my hosting.

Thanks again to the great support from Updraft.
