    Hello,

I have Videopress on my wp.com blog and am able to host videos uploaded there on my wp.org blog using the videopress plugin.

What I’d like to know is how can I embed the videopress code on my wp.org blog but not allow anyone else to embed the code on their blog. I want to hide the embed option. If I turn off embedding I can’t use it at .org.

    Is this even possible?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • VideoPress has these in instructions for self-hosted WordPress blogs in right column.

    Thanks for responding.

I actually do try to find answers before posting here, but this is something I can’t locate. I checked the videopress site once again and can’t find what you’re referring to.

When I disable embedding in wordpress.com and try to embed in wp.org I get the following message:

    Embed error
mydomain.com is not an allowed embed site.
Publisher limits playback of video embeds.

Could you please tell me what page it’s on at the videopress site?

    Thanks.

Sorry, I thought I posted the link to the VideoPress site – https://videopress.com/ right column. You should get answers to your query there.

Thanks for the link, but I think you misunderstood my question. I know how to find the embed code, I just don’t want anyone else to find it!

I want to be able to embed the code and have the video play in my blog but not have the embed code available in the left hand corner for others to post the video in their blogs.

If I disable the code I can’t embed it, but if I enable it the code is available for anyone to use, right there in the top. Is there any way to ensure I’m the only one who can embed it?

“Is there any way to ensure I’m the only one who can embed it? “

That’s one of the reasons why I pointed you to the site of the VideoPress developers, because they would be in the best position and full knowledge to give advice regarding this matter.

    Thanks for the link.

Apparently there is no way to prevent others from embedding your video. Hopefully that’s something that WordPress will work on.

I just found your post while trying to do the same thing as you are trying.

mydomain.com is not an allowed embed site.
Publisher limits playback of video embeds.

The first line of error message reads as if you should be able to add a domain that is allowed to embed without allowing everyone to embed your video.

Did you ever make any progress?

    thanks

No, I haven’t been able to figure it out. What’s strange is the videopress site says this:

    Privacy controls

Not everyone wants their videos to spread all over the web. VideoPress helps you restrict your content to your own sites or sites you select. Embeds, feed enclosures and other sharing options are completely optional. Our video player verifies each website displaying your videos has been explicitly granted permissions (if you choose to restrict your content)

But I can’t figure out how to do it.

Go to your WordPress.com blog. It is under Settings > Media.

Under Video Player it says “Restrict embed playback” and it lets your include a list of domains you want to have playback options.

    Hope this helps!
