Just started using Web Stories and experimenting with it. Two things that I feel are missing is audio and custom fonts option. When making web stories for non English speaking communities, we can either add audio in native language or write the text in it. Web stories sadly, doesn’t support both. Or am I missing something?
Anyway would appreciate if this functionality is enabled in coming updates.

  • @masculinia Thank you for your post! We appreciate your feedback.

There is an open request to add an audio element in this GitHub issue. Feel free to monitor it for any updates.

Regarding custom fonts, the plugin does allow you to use Google Fonts, and you can choose from many fonts. Are you looking for a way to use custom fonts that are not available on Google Fonts? If so, do you perhaps have some examples of fonts you’d like to use?

@luckynasan Thanks for the prompt reply and very sorry for the late response.
I’ll keep checking out for the audio in the thread you just mentioned. I need some Urdu language fonts and unfortunately none is available in Google fonts. But please do tell me how to use google fonts in webstories so I could upload one and then use it.
    Thanks for your help

Uploading custom fonts is not yet possible, but we’re looking into it in this GitHub issue. But as mentioned before all Google Fonts are available in the plugin, you can simply edit them from a dropdown in the sidebar when writing text.

Thanks for the reply, yes, actually I needed Urdu language fonts and they are not available in Google. But I managed to work around with an Arabic font, anyway. Would appreciate if you could answer one more question. Do we have to keep in media library all the pictures we use in stories just like normal posts or we could delete them once used? The story I made using arabic font
Thats the story I made using arabic fonts.
    Thanks for the help

Glad to hear you were able to find a workaround!

If you delete pictures that are used in your blog posts or web stories, they will disappear from the blog post or web story and appear broken. So you should ideally not delete them.
