    I have disabled wp Optimise but this destroyed the layout of the site.

    I also deleted it and removed the cache of the plugin but the issue remained.

    When I reactivated WP Optimnise the website loaded as normal and the layout was restored. There was no problem using other cache plugins before I started using WPO but now installing another cache plugin does not restore the layout – it is only when I reinstall WPO that the layout is restored.

    Is there a solution?

    Thanks.

    @davidanderson please can you help me with this as I have spend many hours trying to find a way to deactivate and delete wp-optimise. Thank you

    Hi there,

    Could you try the following:
    – Disable Autoptimize
    – Disable WP-Optimize’s Minify feature
    – Login to your Cloudflare account, and purge all the caches there.
    – Then your website.
    – If all is fine, you can re-enable Autoptimize, to see if it works properly.

    Note that Autoptimize and WPO’s minify feature do a similar thing, and shouldn’t be used together.

    Marc.

    Hi Marc, Thank you for your reply!

    I want to delete Wp-Optimise without this breaking my layout. At what stage do I do that as it is not mentioned in the above?

    Nyla

    Hi Nyla,

    After the last step, you can disable it. If everything works fine, you can remove it and test again.

    Note that if the layout breaks, it’s likely that a page is cached with the old resources still referenced.

    Let me know how this goes.

    Marc.

    Hello, I tried this and was able to deactivate WP-Optimise but then I cannot use Autoptimise, which was working before.

    Please help!

    Thank you,

    Nyla

    The layout breaks again, so I have both Autoptimse and WP Optimize deactivated at the moment. I did try purging caches.

    What happens when you enable Autoptimize?

    Could you enable Autoptimize for a few minutes for me to see the issue?

    Hi I’m doing this now!

    Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

    Wow, something seems very wrong with the Autoptimized CSS, can you try disabling “aggregate CSS” for now?

    (@nylarosie)

    Ok doing this now.

    Thanks. You may want to disable merging of CSS in Autoptimize.

    One of the CSS files in your site seems to have issues. It seems to be in the theme Astra-child. Did you maybe update it recently?

    The file style.css contains the following:

    @import url("variables");
    @font-face { font-family: "Font Awesome"; font-style: normal; font-weight: 900; font-display: swap; }
    @font-face { font-family: "Font Awesome 5 Free"; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; src: url("#{$fa-font-path}/fa-brands-400.eot?#iefix") format("embedded-opentype"), url("#{$fa-font-path}/fa-brands-400.woff2") format("woff2"), url("#{$fa-font-path}/fa-brands-400.woff") format("woff"), url("#{$fa-font-path}/fa-brands-400.ttf") format("truetype"), url("#{$fa-font-path}/fa-brands-400.svg#fontawesome") format("svg"); }
    .fa, .fas { font-family: "Font Awesome 5 Free"; font-weight: 400; }

    @import url("variables"); isn’t a valid URL, and it breaks the rest of the CSS when minified and concatenated.

    Hello,

    I have removed that from the stylesheet and seems to have repaired the layout issue. I can also disable Wp optimise. What are the best settings to use Wp optimise and autoptimize together please?

    The only thing to remember is to not enable both Minify in WP-Optimize and Autoptimize, as that could cause issues, or simply waste resources as they both do the same thing.
    The other features of WP-Optimize should work well with Autoptimize.

    ok then!
