• Egad!!!

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to reduce the whitespace around the right margin on my site.

    https://www.tiasoap.com

I want empty sidebars and reduced margins. I went so far as commenting out all the sidebar.php files.

3 hours looking for this code and all I’ve got is a serious case of frustration.

I’m using the Green Apples template.

Any help would be a God send. Even if you could tell me what area in the CSS I should be looking for, although I’ve scoured and adjusted and re-adjusted but nothing. Just a fat, ugly looking right margin.

    thanks

  • Having looked at the site, I think you need to strip all margins and padding on everything down to 0, strip out replicated classes, try and remove anything that isn’t essential and then re-build the stylesheet. There’s an awful lot of what looks like redundant CSS in there and it’s making things very difficult.

    thanks esmi,

that’s what I was afraid of. I know nothing about CSS and while I like the template even my untrained eye can see there’s is a lot of junk code.

I don’t really know what I’m doing but I guess i’ll make a copy of the working CSS and start hacking away ?? Best way to learn isn’t it?

Absolutely! I did have a look at the CSS to see if I could find an easy fix but couldn’t. Sorry.

Do you know of any Mac-friendly tools where I can work on a test copy of my site while the current version stays live?

Right now when I work on my site I edit the actual live https://www.tiasoap.com and I think that’s probably a serious no-no. I’ve already jacked things up a few times and then had to cut and paste copies of the CSS to word and compare docs to see what I mistakenly hacked out

    thanks

Have you thought about installing WordPress locally?

I didn’t know that was an option. Awesome! Thanks again Esmi!
