Hi @hlorenz, maybe this helps you as did with us.

We installed this plugin that WordPress recommends in this last update: https://es.www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

Then, after activating it, at Home Page in Admin Dashboard, you can check if there are any errors at your jQuery and visit the list to see which are they. In our case we didn’t find any (list was empty), so seems everything is stable…

Hopefully this information helps ?? Untill someone informs here how to use this “Test jQuery Updates plugin”.

    Cheers!

Same here. Unsufficient instruction how to perform the test.

I can’t find the plugin settings page, there is no reference in the readme.txt either.

The page below suggests an existing settings page, but it is not found under “Plugins”.

Updating jQuery version shipped with WordPress

    Hi
Im also very interested in a detailled explanation.
It did work with my site (jQuery Migrate active). But the site is still on WP 5.5, and I would really like to test it with version 5.6 before upgrading.
The Plugin settings can be found in “Plugins > Test jQuery Updates”

    Hi isg_wp-forum,
I can’t find anything under “Plugins > Test jQuery Updates”.
Maybe the Plugin doesn’t work with WP 5.6?

OK – totally confused as well. HighKay is right that this only works in WP 5.5. I installed it on a production site which is still on WP 5.5 and it works fine. It does of course say not to use it on a production site so I will take see if any problems are reported then remove it. It does not work on WP 5.6. Very strange!

I installed it at WP 5.6 ( Test jQuery Updates) with no problem at all….

    Hi ibiza69,
so you found out how to use it?

I did install it too, but can’t figure out how to start the testing…

Sorry @hlorenz, I mistaked, we used this other recommended by wordpress team: https://es.www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

After updating WP to 5.6, the “settings” menu disappeared.

But after upgrading this plugin to V2.0.0, it came back under Plugins > Test jQuery Updates.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Right, the settings menu is accessible from the plugins screen or from Plugins -> Test jQuery Updates.

However this plugin requires a specific version of WordPress to work properly. Version 1.x of the plugin is for WP 5.5. Version 2.x (latest at the moment) is for WP 5.6.

Unfortunately the code in version 1.x didn’t show any messages/warnings when the plugin was incompatible with the WordPress version (i.e. when WP was updated and an old version of the plugin was still active). It just disables the plugin to prevent errors/bad side effects, hence the menu disappears.

Now in v2.0 there is some code that will show a message on the plugins screen and on the plugin’s settings screen for next time.

@azaozz — I updated to WordPress core 5.6 on my staging site and installed this plugin.

What am I supposed to do next? Deactivate jQuery Migrate and change the
jQuery version from “Default” to “1.12.4” under the “Test jQuery Updates” panel, and then test that the site still functions as expected?

    Or, something else?

i am very week in jQuery and some times its so difficult to manage my blog coding i am looking straight to this plugin i think it will help me to solve so many problems automatically

After updating WP to 5.6, the “settings” menu disappeared.

But after upgrading this plugin to V2.0.0, it came back under Plugins > Test jQuery Updates.

Have anybody test these ??? looking forward for some more information and details also
