php 8 compatibility

Sorry about that. It was under SVN. I forgot to add it to the Git mirror.

I’ve updated the dev branch again. Feel free to test for PHP8 compat, but note that the JSON stuff is still in progress. Compiles, but doesn’t load from custom folder yet. Working out how to handle merge as per MO.

Quick update to say that custom JSONs are loaded and merged now, on top of installed versions.

The merging may become optional because it carries an overhead on each page view.

Notice: spl_autoload_register(): Argument #2 ($do_throw) has been ignored, spl_autoload_register() will always throw in /wp-content/plugins/loco-translate/loco.php on line 188

@kubiq You need to install the development version to test PHP8 compat. See also this thread regarding your report.

oh, well, PHP 8 is available on most hostings now and also new WP 5.6 is ready, but I see, that your plugin is not yet compatible (Tested up to: 5.5.3) :/

do you have some estimation for release date for fully compatible version?

thanks. in my test environment running apache 2.4 php 8.0 and wp 5.6 and mariadb 10.5 the revised loco xlate beta is compiling mo’s now. ?? did not notice further errors or php notices yet. keeping eye on it.

@kubiq I don’t provide estimates for releasing new versions. I rely on people like @svenbolte trying the dev version and feeding back. The more feedback, the quicker the release.
