CSS Disappeared

  • I had CSS in the customise section but it’s all gone now. I haven’t been on the website for a while, I started working on it again yesterday, I added a child theme and then updated the actual theme then I noticed that some of the elements on my website looked weird, so I went into the custom CSS section and I discovered there was nothing there. I use siteground to host, so I used the backup feature to load a backup from a month ago but the CSS was still gone.

  • The custom CSS option is specific to a theme. So when you added a child theme, it starts with its own blank Custom CSS. The original should still be in the parent theme, which you can access if you switch to it.
    You can use the Customizer Export/Import plugin to save the parent theme options to a file, then switch to the child theme and import that file.
