‘What do i upload and where’?

You downloaded a .zip file that unzipped into a ‘wordpress’ folder, right? Upload everything inside that folder to your web server. Your host should give you instructions on how to do that. You have a host, right?

Thanks apljdi – i have managed (after three hours!) to figure this part out but now when paste the ‘install.php’ url into the browser a small pop up box appears and asks for a username and password. I am assuming this is the FTP username and password? I enter this only to be asked if i want to save the ‘install.php’file and whether you click ‘save’ or ‘open’ nothing happens after this. I have no idea what i am doing wrong but i am guessing it is something to do with the username and password i need to enter – any ideas?

No, I doubt it. Its hard to say but I’d guess its maybe a .htaccess login. Anyway, something is wrong and to me it looks like its wrong at the server configuration level. The fact that you are asked to save install.php is also evidence for this.

What is your url? And are you sure that your server supports PHP?

I am having very similar problems to erowett.

I have a site hosted on JustHost. I downloaded WordPress and I have extracted all files as told to do. From there I was told I should follow instructions but I am not getting any. I have selected all files and right clicked but I am not given an option to upload to server.

Any ideas??

Are you using an FTP client? Or just trying to right-click on you desktop or wherever?

I have downloaded Filezilla. I have the information from JustHost that I need to add to Filezilla – I can’t find where to add it though.

My apologies – I realise this is very basic stuff.

Filezilla is layed out pretty much like a web browser. Look across the top. You should see ‘Host’, ‘Username’, and ‘Password’. Fill those in with your connection details from JustHost and hit ‘Quickconnect’.

@erowett, you are getting a database connection error. You need to make sure you have the right values in wp-config.
