After the recent JetPack 9.2 upgrade and subsequent 9.2.1 update, I can no longer see page views by author in my Stats page. Page views for me (the administrator) can be seen, but all other page views are bulked up into a single, blank/null entry.

Possibly related, my other contributors – all of whom have Editor roles on the site – can no longer see my site in the upper left hand corner of WordPress. One has developed a workaround to be able to access the site and post articles, but for the other two, the workaround does not work. The workaround is as follows:

    ———-
    1) go to wordpress.com/posts/132773843 – this is the page I have bookmarked, which normally takes me directly to where I post my texts, but now takes me to a screen that says I don’t have any WordPress sites yet.

    2) top right corner, click on my profile. scroll down to Profile Links. this section has links to the Essence of Water site and to my personal website.

    3) click on Essence of Water site. then top bar, to the left, look for: “+ New”. Click here and then click on “Posts”

    4) then publish as usual …..
    ———-

Any ideas on what has gone wrong, and how to fix it, would be welcome.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Happiness Rocketeer ??

    @freilinger42 thanks for reaching out!

but all other page views are bulked up into a single, blank/null entry.

That typically indicates that the stats data from your site isn’t synced properly. However, the phantom author would show as __JPPNP__ as the author name – but in this case it’s blank.

Regarding the Editor’s issues – it’s because the only connected user currently is the Administrator account (which I assume is yours?). In order for the Editors to use the WordPress.com dashboard to edit posts/publish they need to have their user account on wp-admin connected to their own unique WordPress.com user account. They would just need to log into their account in wp-admin, go to Jetpack -> Dashboard, and follow the prompt to connect their account.

I believe that should sort out the author stats display issue as well.

Let us know if you still have this problem and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

@csonnek – thanks for the reply!

Actually all three of my other editors already have their own user accounts in WordPress (indeed, each of them is the Administrator for their own separate WordPress sites). What’s odd is that they all saw my site as being one of their affiliated sites prior to the WordPress 5.6 and Jetpack 9.2 updates – only after those did they lose the connections.

Could you provide a set of instructions for them to reconnect? The only other solution I thought of was to delete them as users, and then invite them as Editors again anew. But I’d rather not do that, especially if that would delete the linkages their ID would have to their prior posts.

Also, you mention the stats data syncing issue – is there anything I can do as Admin to remedy this?

    Again, thanks for the reply!

    Hi there @freilinger42!

Could you provide a set of instructions for them to reconnect? The only other solution I thought of was to delete them as users, and then invite them as Editors again anew.

I see that you eventually went for that and re-invited your editors. Two of them have already accepted the invitation, and they seem to have connected their account to Jetpack already (in case you or they need some more info to reconnect Jetpack, here they are ?? )

Also, you mention the stats data syncing issue – is there anything I can do as Admin to remedy this?

A full sync of the site should fix that; a sync job was launched around 5 hours ago, so that should make the trick. I had a quick look around, and they should be able to see the stats again.

Let me know if you or they see differently at your end, and we’ll dig on it further if that’s the case ??
