• Hi!

I noticed lately I can’t edit any of the sidebars I have created since the WordPress 5.6 update. Can anyone tell me how I can edit the sidebars in this new version?

    Thanks so much!

    Katie

  • Hello @filmcritic23,

This could be related to a jQuery migrate script which was recently updated within the WordPress core.

When you open your browser console, is there an error that indicates that there is an outdated or undefined jQuery function/method?

To open your browser console, press CTRL+SHIFT+J buttons on your keyboard (press again to close).

    Hey @igorradovanov ,

    Thanks for responding!

So when I did that it said the following: jquery-migrate.min.js?ver=3.3.2:2 JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 3.3.2

Not sure if that is a good thing or not. I appreciate your assistance!

@filmcritic23 That is a good sign, it indicates that the latest jQuery migrate script has been loaded from the WordPress core.

Are there any other red/error messages listed within your console when you try to edit or click on the element that contains the sidebar edit buttons?

Please also check if you have Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin installed and activated on your WordPress website. If not, you may want to install the plugin and give it a chance to see if the issues is caused by outdated jQuery functions in your active theme or installed plugins.

I have a PHP error on the website, but I am not sure it is related. I’m pretty tech savy but I am unfamiliar with PHP and cannot figure out how to update it.

When I go into the widgets tab, I go to right sidebar and click on edit a text sidebar but it doesn’t open up. They are live on the website I use, but I don’t know how to access it.

I will download the plugin and see if it helps. Will let you know. Thanks!

    Hey @igorradovanov

I installed the plugin and went back to the widgets under appearance, but it still won’t open any of the text files.

I’m wondering if its another kind of JQUERY issue they are having.
