Site Integrity Scanner – 2021 theme checksum mismatch

  • Hi,

    Just want to let you know the Twenty Twenty-One theme is showing 46 “Checksum mismatch” warnings in the security scanner.

    I’m on WP 5.6 with theme updated to the latest, so perhaps a false positive?

    Hi!

    To some degree, it is. There is a problem with themes hosted on the www.ads-software.com repository and bundled with WordPress ones. They are slightly different. When you install WordPress, you get the bundled themes with different files. Their checksums do not match the hosted on www.ads-software.com ones. If you re-install a theme manually, all checksum mismatch errors are gone.

    P.S. We will develop a workaround soon.

    FYI, with the latest update of the theme 1.1, it seems to have corrected itself. No checksum mismatch is reported.

    I did not reinstall the theme, but enabled auto updating of it. Not sure if that made a difference or something else did…

    That’s what I’m talking about. Once a “normal” version has installed and replaced the bundled one, their checksums are verified normally. Unfortunately, the www.ads-software.com repository doesn’t provide checksums for the bundled versions of themes.
