After I updated W3 Total Cache to 2.0.0, when I try to update already published post the loading indicator next to the button spins infinitely and I eventually get a Cloudflare 522 error. I have tried this with pages and custom post types. Upon disabling the plugin the update action is working correctly.

    A few thing I noticed:
    1. After the upgrade I got sent to the new setup guide, however, it hanged on the first step (after detecting the “Disk: Enhanced(Recommended)” speed).
    2. Cleaning up the page cache seems to take unusually long.

  • I can confirm this. Also this morning tried to update media query string and then couldn’t press the Recommented empty page cache button. I did manually empty cache and nothing happened. Need to go to general settings —> uncheck the page cache —-> empty the cache and save and next recheck the page cache to work…
    Thank u

    Hello @shaman-h_fel

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
The Error 522 occurs when Cloudflare times out contacting the origin web server, so it was potentially the temporary connection issue – not related to W3TC.
Again the two things you noticed are related to the temporary connection issue with Cloudflare.

    @nickpapag
If you are using Cloudflare it might be the same issue.

I’ve just tried to replicate this on the environment with Cloudflare and updating the post and purging the cache went smoothly without any issues. Please note that this is not a testing env but a live website.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

I can also confirm this. When plugin is activated, updating a page end with:

    Error 504: Backend unavailable
This type of error results generally from the client server, used as a backend.

@vmarko I suspected that this was a temporary issue but I tried multiple times to disable/enable the plugin. Each time I enabled the plugin I got the 522 error and each time I disabled it I was able to update the page.

Furthermore, while I was getting 522 on the page I was updating, I was able to access all other pages from my site without any issue.

Something else to note, while I didn’t test that thoroughly, it seemed that the update to the post was saved and the issue was with not loading the response.

    Hello @shaman-h_fel

As I’ve mentioned, the problem is with the connection between Cloudflare and the origin server.
The only thing I can recommend is to completely remove and re-install W3 Total Cache.
I am not able to reproduce the issue and I am able to update the post without any issues.
    (Using Cloudflare also)
    Thanks!
