Sudden long order numbers

Hello,

There may be a conflict with WordPress 5.6 and a plugin.
Can you disable and enable plugins one by one to determine which plugin is causing the problem? When you disable a plugin, place a test order to see if the order number is long.

Hi @maykato, thanks so much for your reply. I deactivated all plugins except for WooCommerce and Stripe and I switched to the default theme, but the issue persists. What other troubleshooting steps do you recommend? I have also contacted the host (Nexcess) to see whether there’s anything they can check on their side.

Have you tried to deactivate/reactivate your plugins one by one?
You can determine which plugin is causing the conflict by:

• reactivating them one by one
• testing again after each reactivation. For process-related conflicts, this means recreating the same process over and over again.

As for the sudden change, there is nothing in core responsible for this as far as I can see. With that said, would you mind sending us a screenshot of what that looks like on your side? You can use the free Snipboard.io tool to do so.

Thanks so much for your reply. I did test Sequential Order Numbers Pro but unfortunately that isn’t a solution either as it requires us to set a starting number higher than the highest number that already exists. ??

Here’s a screenshot of the wp_posts table. Note the last normal order number and then the long ones. The next auto-index value is 9,004,111,222,007,542.

I am at a loss. If it’s not plugins, nor something the host did, nor PHP snippets I wrote, then what could it possibly be? I’d really like to resolve this and am happy to provide anything that’ll help you help me. ??

Thanks for sending us your site’s System Status Report. This is definitely an odd case if you’ve deactivated everything and the problem remains.

One thing I did notice that was standing out from your report is that your site’s database version is outdated. I’m wondering if updating this might help.

Before you make any updates, I would recommend backing up your site first. Then, head to WooCommerce > Status > Tools (tab) > Update Database.

Once this is done, can you also send us an updated System Status Report showing that all plugins have been deactivated (except for WC) with a default theme active? We’d like to revisit it at that point.

Hey @laceyrod,

It seems that the update database process has changed since I last used it. I am used to getting a notification about it when it’s needed, and then being able to see its progress. This no longer seems to be the case.

I started the update but there seems to be no way for me to see whether it’s complete. Or perhaps I am missing something?

Hi @zdenys, we actually ended up hiring a database engineer, who fixed the issue by updating the IDs in the posts plus the auto-increment value. Thanks for the assistance.
