    Hi,

    Quick question on custom layouts.

These create a page of there own, which should not be indexed or followed by the search engines.

Are the custom layouts and reusable blocks indexed by google? If they are then i imagine if a block is used site wide then it will interfere with that pages content in the serps and cause a distraction especially in the markup.

Do we need to no-index each of the custom layout pages ourselves?

I am testing Neve on a staging site so the whole site is no indexed, but i do see yoast throwing up a title, description etc, which is not required.

It seems like these blocks are trying to act as includes that are used for adding sections site wide content in html and css, which works great as it is not a separate page. However, a site wide reusable or custom layout will be adding another page to every page it is added to.

Would love to see your thoughts and take on this and gets some clarity.

    Many Thanks

    Jason

  • Hi @jason2020,

To prevent custom layouts to be indexed – you can disable that by going to SEO > Search Appearance > Content Types and disable showing them in search results. (These steps are for the Yoast plugin)

    I hope it helps!
