• Hi, I asked a question a couple of days ago and mentioned I planned to upgrade to pro.

I did that and continued going through assets to see what could be unloaded. I tried preloading some assets and also deferring some other assets as I know they are at the bottom of the page and I figured I could improve the initial time of the first view.

I saved my changes then noticed I have an extra 30 HTTP requests. No worries, I can just go back and undo the changes that I just made. But nope. None of the deferred JS settings showed, I don’t know if they are deferred or not. Also I cannot set the preloaded settings back to no, default.

So I deactivated the plugin and reactivated the free version again. That let me set the preloaded assets back to “no”

Then I deleted the pro plugin and reinstalled it. I still cannot make changes with the pro version, and I cannot even unload assets, I update the page and they remain loaded.

I have gone through in the pro version and used the plugin manager and set up some rules, not with any noticeable difference. However the pro plugin now won’t save any changes I made and I suspect it is not telling me about deferred JS which might be accountable for the increase in HTTP requests.

Any suggestions? I want to get rid of these extra HTTP requests that I had added whilst trying out different unloads and deferrals but I cannot see any deferred assets and if I could, then I probably would not be able to change them again with the pro version.

I am loathed to roll the site back to two days ago and start over because I have got performance improvements and it took me hours to set them all up

The URL added is the page I tried these deferrals on. A couple of files are no longer combined /wp-content/themes/Avada/includes/lib/assets/min/js/library/jquery.ilightbox.js /wp-content/themes/Avada/includes/lib/assets/min/js/library/jquery.carouFredSel.js
These are files that I tried to defer but according to the list of assets they have no rules applied to them.

Thinking it might be a browser issue, I checked in a clean browser and no, this still is not showing.

    Thanks

Hi, I am just going to update this file whilst I have it fresh in my mind. This is turning out to be quite the struggle

Today I made a change in the Pro version but could not change it back because despite the site breaking, the change did not show in admin. So I ended up restoring back to 24 Dec.

Anyway, I tried to build it again. Second attempt today I realised that moving a couple of JS files to BODY improves Google pagespeed insights results. So I did that. Then I had the same issue as above. The pro version refused to save any changes when I tried to unload assets. So i deactivated it and unloaded the assets with the free version (I am sure this is not the intention) Whilst working with the free version I noticed that all my WooCommerce products returned 404 responses even though I was only working on a post. I carried on anyway because I figured that it was probably due to a plugin change I made in the pro version and maybe it would come back when I activated the pro version.

Using the free version moved those JS files back to HEAD to but I got to 72 unloads and way better performance. Yes ideally the pro version would let me unload these.

So I deactivated the free version and activated the pro version again. My WooCommerce products returned. The pro version would not let me move those JS files back to the BODY within the post that I had been testing in. But given it is site wide, I tried it in a different post and it worked. So at that point I had 72 unloaded assets in one post and 2 JS files moved to BODY site wide. I felt like I had gone around the houses somewhat to reach this point.

At that point I wanted to change the settings in the 72 unloaded assets to apply to “all posts.” But nope, the pro version would not let me do that. Rather than install the free version again to do it, and at the same time move those two JS files back to HEAD. I decided to call it a day and wait for some help.

But also nope because then all my WooCommerce products disappeared again. I could find no way of getting them back again so once again I restored back to 24 Dec.

So at the moment I have neither plugin installed, I have no unloads but I do have the export of the file so hopefully I do not have to do it all over again.
