  • I have the same problem.

Your question is not clear to me. I didn’t face any problem adding a new user from the site backend. Please explain more with a short video.

    Refer to this manual- https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/user-manual/customizing-wordpress/managing-users-on-your-wordpress-site/adding-users-to-your-wordpress-site/.

    He explained it properly.

The error message when you try to add a user:
Error: Passwords don’t match. Please enter the same password in both password fields.

but there is just one Field to type the password.

    Solution I found:
I disabled “admin columns” plug in and then I was able to add a user.

Awesome! Glad to know you figured out this issue.

Contact the respective plugin author ask to solve the issue.

    Have a wonderful day ahead!

Hi there, I have deactivated all plugins but the problem still occurs… (Error: Passwords don’t match. Please enter the same password in both password fields.). Does anybody have a solution for me? Thanks, Frank

After updating to WP 5.6.2 I was unable to add new users because of an error stating the PASSWORDS DO NOT MATCH. Well everyone knows there is only one password field on the add user dialog. A visible symptom of the login issue is that the password field shows hidden even when you click the show/hide toggle.

I eventually discovered that Grand FlaGallery plugin was causing the problem. This plugin has caused numerous problems in several websites I manage. Look for a better gallery plugin.

Once the plugin is deactivated, clear your page and browser cache. When you see the password displayed, the user can be added.

After deactivating a ton of plugins, I figured out instead that its a cache issue specifically with that page and the password field. Try this, as it worked out well for us.

Go to Dashboard > Add new user
    REFRESH THIS PAGE SEVERAL TIMES
You should see that the value in the password field changes from ****** to actual characters.

You’re now able to add new users.
    Enjoy!

For me the solution was as @welswebmaster suggested. I just needed to refresh the page once. I don’t have the same plugins others have mentioned so they can’t be the cause. I have the Members plugin which I thought may have been the cuprit but I did not test disabling it to see if this was the cause before refreshing the page. As refreshing the page solved it, and other commenters have not said they have Members installed, I think it is a WordPress issue, not a plugin one.

Perhaps it needs to be reported as a WordPress bug?

Thank You, I was facing this same problem on and off until I stumbled upon this thread. The solution worked for me (Refresh the page until the password is visible).
I am using WordPress 5.7. Thank You @welswebmaster
