Hi….this is weird. I have added a new page called workshops at ‘https://www.coppercoastworkshops.com/minimalistics/workshops’ It has exactly the same format as the “about” and “miscellany+news” pages, i.e. an image across the top and text below. Yet all that’s visible is a small image and no text. I’ve tried rewriting the page several time and uploading but I got exactly the same result.

Out of curiosity, I tried loading it using the Miscellany Page as a parent and it worked OK. But it needs to be a main page. If anyone throw some light on the problem I’d be so grateful. Thank you

    404 – Page not found

Since my earlier post above, I’ve deleted the page and started again. This included adding a fresh version of the image, then copying a working page and altering the text. I’ve also double checked the header.php to make certain that the code is OK and I’ve downloaded and activated the latest redirection plugin. And I’ve cross-checked the html from a page that’s OK.

When I look in visual mode it looks correct. Yet when I check the preview – or upload the page, all that’s visible is a small image and no text. That’s all done on Firefox, checking it on IE gives a “page not found” message.

I don’t know what else I can do, please has anyone any idea where the error is. Thank you…George

Hi Esmi…my apologies about this, Before contacting the forum I tried searching through the forum/codex and even google but most of the information – is too complex for me to understand. As you can see from above posts, I’ve tried everything I can think of that might be the problem.

Is it possible for you to suggest where might I go to from here to help find out what the problem is…

    Thank so much….George

What happens if you try to create a page entitled “Workshops 2”? No text. No image. Just a blank page…

    Thanks Esmi…

I’ve tried your suggestion and deleted the problem page and loaded a new blank page with a completely new name “photo courses” but still get “page not found” when I click on the link.

Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting. If that works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

Hi Esmi…my apologies for the delay…work interferes with everything!

Since my last post I have discovered that the category/date drop-down menu on the Archive page now shows only the latest image rather than the whole category.

I tried the suggestion (above) and received a page not found message when I tried to load the Archive page – so I’ve switched the permalinks back to the original setting and temporarily removed the original problem page.

I was using /%category%/%postname%/ as my permalink. Could the fact that individual images have several categories be a cause?

Also do you think that if I upgrade from 2.8.4. to version 2.9.2 that will help? Or would it be better to try and fix the problem first?

I do appreciate your time and advice. Thank you….George

Since my last post I have discovered that the category/date drop-down menu on the Archive page now shows only the latest image rather than the whole category.

That sounds like a theme issue/feature to me. In which the case the options would be to either use a different theme or re-engineer the menus on this one.

And upgrading to the latest version of WP is always a good idea if you want to reduce the likelihood of your site being hacked.

I think the first step is to upgrade WP, which will take a little while because I have to change servers to avail of the more recent versions of MySQL that are compatible with 2.9.2. As you can guess I’m no tekkie so it will probably take a while. If the errors have gone, then great. If not then I’ll try the other steps that you’ve mentioned.

Meanwhile I’ll mark this as resolved – and thank you for your help.
