• Hi, I’m trying to make my blog accessible from mastodon, and what I’m finding is that instances with secure mode on cannot access it, at least, that seems to be the common thread here, secure mode being when authorized fetch is required for all access to the instance.

Is there any suggestion that you have for dealing with this?

Good question! Never heard about the “secure mode” before. Can you name me one instance using secure mode, to debug the plugin?

vulpine.club uses it, I can get you the logs.

    Though, they’re messy

According to the docs, in secure mode all requests need to signed, which the plugin currently does.
Is the instance in limited mode (this would have federation according to an allow list)?

Can you find the blog profiles doing a search from Mastodon, or is that what you mean by you cannot access it?

I can find the blog posts, but I cannot follow the author’s account.

Searching for it enables finding specific posts, but I can’t see everything else in the outbox.

Do you mean that you try to follow but the status stays pending?

By default Mastodon does not load all the posts in the outbox, it will only load those the instance has already received. The conditions are explained here

    That’s right

I’m quite aware of that. In any case my instance cannot communicate with my blog, and so far the only thing that separates people who can communicate from those who can’t is whether or not secure mode is enabled. This is also the case for pleroma instances in its equivalent of secure mode as well.

Ok, I’ve reopened an issue, and have confirmed the bug.
