login issues

  • Hi All,
    Probably a simple one BUT…
    I’ve just installed a completely separate DB and wp dir and have successfully installed everything but cannot log in.
    Keep getting thrown back to the login page:
    wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fvp%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php

    Any clues how to get around this?

    thanks for the link ?? – tried it all.
    Tried loading a complete new version with new database.
    I have also tried using:
    01-22-05 & 02-03-05 nightly builds with no luck.
    Tried logging on from 2 different machines using:
    firefox(mac), safari, ie6 pc, firefox(pc).
    no joy. same problem.
    windows 2001 server
    PHP Version 4.3.2
    MySQL 4.0.13-nt
    any clues?

    FYI, did not have time to play with PHP to hack my through the issue.
    Installed current release and everything worked perfect so…..beta version is still beta version I guess (bummer I could not get it done – was looking forward to seeing all the news stuff).

    Could this be a cookie issue?

    Reason: I installed a 2005-02-06 nightlie for a friend of mine. After he visited and logged into my test site with admin access, he couldn’t log into his site until he cleared his cache.

    After doing so, he logged in with no problem.

    The only work-around I have (if it is the same thing) is downgrading to 1.2.2, logging in (this will set the cookies) and then upgrading. You should stay logged in.
