recover admin / password via core files

    Hi,

    Someone has installed WP on my server for me, although they haven’t told me the username & password to enetr the admin area – they have now gone away on holiday and i need to access this.

    I can get through to the core files via ftp on my server – is there a way of recovering the data via these?

    You could recover the user from the database if you have access.

    Under user table, change the email address of the superuser (admin) to your email address and request a ‘forgotten password’ from the wp-admin login page.

    Use the same superuser name (admin probably) and use your password sent.

    your user name is likely “admin”

    so do a password reset to one of your choice using one of these methods
