Listing for Stories, Templates, and Layouts missing

    @swissspidy – I’m including a group of like issue, as they may all be related. After looking at the Console there are errors getting thrown.

    If helpful, I created a screen capture video showing what happens when I click on the different menu items under Stories and a couple screenshots.

    After upgrading to 1.3.0

    1.) Under ‘My Stories’ tab, nothing displays
    2.) Under ‘Explore Templates’ tab, nothing displays
    3.) Under ‘Settings’ tab, nothing displays.

    The only tab that display anything is ‘All Stories’ and will display a list of stories just like the posts listing.

    After fiddling with everything, now when in the Story Editor, the layouts are showing up.

    Seems is may all be related to the errors getting triggers from the Console msgs

  • Hi there, @terrymiddleton! Thanks for the post. Your detailed report has been very helpful to us! We are currently looking into this issue as other users are reporting similar errors.

    Could you provide some additional information to us such as:

    – does this issue occur in an incognito window, with all other plugins and CDN / firewalls temporarily disabled?

    – your Site Health information. You can share privately if you prefer.

    – browser and browser version

    @terrymiddleton Additionally, where you are seeing the console error, can you check the network tab for any responses. Here’s how to do it:

    – In the dev tools, go to the _Network tab_
    – Find and select the request that failed under the _Name column_. It should be highlighted in red (you may need to refresh the page again).
    – Go to the _Response tab_, and take a screenshot or copy/ paste what is there

    Yes, these issue still occur, however, the console error log shows a slightly different error msg. (see link to screenshots below – Web Stories Incognito Dev Console Msg.jpg)

    @luckynasan – Ran this and while there are errors in the console, there are no failed requests under the Name Column

    What do you see when you navigate to My Stories, refresh the page, and check the network response then? See example.

    Absolutely…I did one for INCOGNITO and one without and uploaded the txt files here:

    1.) Horns Network Response INCOGNITO.txt
    2.) Horns Network Response NOT INCOGNITO.txt

    Could you please help us gather more detailed information by downloading this in-development version of the plugin? The browser console errors will be expanded and help us narrow down what could be the issue.

    Navigate to GitHub and download web-stories-dev.zip from there. Let us know what error messages occur.

    Question, I’m assuming the in-dev plugin will replace the current one,yes? Also, do you want me to capture just the console errors or the network errors also?

    One thing – when I visit the link you provided for Github, under Assets folder those files are not listed.

    It just has:

    web-stories-wp/assets/
    /images
    /src

    If you could make a recording of both the console error and the network responses like you’ve done previously, that would be excellent!

    WordPress doesn’t support uploading the same plugin twice. You’ll have to delete the existing one first.

    One question. Will I lose all my stories?

    @terrymiddleton You shouldn’t. My stories were all there after I deleted the plugin and installed the development version.

    Sounds good.

    I’ve deleted the 1.3.0 and installed the dev plugin from the zip file you sent me.

    Created a new folder ‘Web Stories Dev (Plugin)’ with 3 files in it:

    1.) web stories dev – console errors data 1-22-2020a.txt
    2.) web stories dev – network response data 1-22-2020a.txt
    3.) Web Stories Dev Console and Network.mp4

    Let me know if it gives you what you wanted and needed.

    I was about to create a couple new stories, but can wait if you need me to.

    If you can continue using the development version while we troubleshoot this issue, that would be great. The stories you create on this version will be saved.
