Adding Extra Profile Fields

I have added a profile field with this example: https://docs.thememylogin.com/article/109-adding-extra-profile-fields.

I have some issues:

1. If I set a value and save the profile, i doesn’t get the field value, its blank.
2. I can’t see the field when I edit the user from backend.

I’m using the profiles add-on.
