Upon my first try using the plugin, I was able to get 4 story slides complete and saved, but then started getting the “failed to save the story” error. I now cannot save any further work. I searched through the support forum but did not find an answer. I am using Cloudflare, but it seems that the problem there was supposed to be fixed with v1.2? I am running v1.3 and everything on my site is up to date. I have a screenshot of my error console but don’t see an option to attach here…?

Hello, @shannonentin! Sorry to hear you are having issues. Cloudflare compatibilities were improved in version 1.2.0, that’s correct. If possible, could you test if the issue subsides when you temporarily disable Cloudflare?

Could we gather a few more details?

    1. Does this error occur in an incognito window?
    2. What browser and browser version are you using?
    3. What was the last action you took before getting the error? Is it possible for you to share a screen recording of the issue? You can use services like Recordit to capture it.

I have been working on a couple more stories and I can save them when I create my own from scratch. I seem to run into problems when using a template. I am trying to duplicate a template, but I’m having trouble finding some of the effects. For example, I was using the “NO DAYS OFF” template – and that is the one that won’t save any changes. So if I go to create a new story and use the template in a second tab as reference, I don’t see the “Blink On” animation as an option. I am also unable to set the text kerning to a negative number to get the letters closer together (as is done in the template).

I suppose there are still bugs being worked out in this plugin.

    To answer your questions:
I disabled Cloudflare and I do still get the “failed to save” error.
    1. Yes, the same error in an incognito window
    2. Google Chrome Version 88.0.4324.104 (Official Build) (64-bit)
    3. It happens on various actions. I deleted a slide from the template; I changed text; I added a photo.

@shannonentin Thank you for the detail while we continue to troubleshoot the issue.

    1. Could you please install the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and follow these instructions to troubleshoot the Web Stories plugin.

Go to “Plugins” in your WordPress admin and click on “Troubleshoot” underneath “Web Stories” in the list of plugins.

This will simulate a scenario with all other plugins disabled except for Web Stories. If it works fine in that scenario, we’ll know there’s a conflict.

    – Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

    2. If possible, could you check for any browser console errors in the browser dev tools and send us a screenshot?

    3. If you see an error, can you get the _Response_ on the request by following these steps:

    – In the dev tools, go to the _Network tab_
    – Find and select the request that failed under the _Name column_. It should be highlighted in red (you may need to refresh the page again).
    – Go to the _Response tab_, and take a screenshot or copy/ paste what is there

    4. Lastly, feel free to provide your Site Health information and we can look for possible conflicting plugins. You can share privately if you prefer.

@shannonentin We are going to mark your topic as resolved as we haven’t received a response. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to experience any issues. Thank you.
