    Hi all !
I’m using Woo since few years and the following issue makes me crazy…
For a same product i need to have 2 options lists (2 lists with the same items)
Here is the example : cooking kit => 2 options (2 list with same items like : salt, pepper, spices)
When buying cooking kit people have to choose salt, pepper or spices in the first option list and choose salt, pepper or spices in the second one

    Easy…
BUT i need to have to manage options stock.
1/ If don’t create variations i can’t manage options stock (no stock field options )
2/ If i create variations i cannot manage options one by one because i have to manage stock per variation (fe salt/pepper stock or salt/spices stock which is impossible =>how to do when i have only one piece of salt ?)

That thing makes me crazy, is it possible to do that ? Or not ?
    Thanks a lot for helping
    Best regards

  • The things that you want to manage the stock of are your variations, and the extras that don’t affect stock are “add-ons” or “product options”. There are several add-on type plugins in the plugin repository, and several more available commercially.

With add-ons, you don’t get stock management, individual images and mostly you don’t get costs additions.

The customer’s choices of add-ons will be carried through cart, checkout, order and emails.

    Hi @lorro and thank you

Thats exactly what i was thinking.
But when using variations how may i manage stock qties ?
For example for the two choices Woo create following variations :

    spices spices
    spices salt
    spices pepper
    pepper spices
    pepper salt
    pepper pepper
    salt spices
    salt salt
    salt pepper

How is it possible to manage stock like that ? For example if i have only 1 pepper item qty ?
And how if 2 spices item qty AND 4 salt item qty ?
    I really don’t understand that…

I don’t understand what these are. Please post a link to the relevant product page.

    Maybe images are much explicit…

I’d still like to see the product page please.

It looks like you have two sizes of container and two types of container, so that’s 2 x 2 = 4 variations.

I see in the screenshots that there are 18 possible perfumes and the buyer can choose for their first choice and any of the 18 for their second choice. If you need to keep track of the stock for each container and each perfume, you will need 2 x 2 x 18 x 18 = 1,296 variations. There is no way round that with the core WooCommerce plugin. This will not be easy to manage. If you need to change the price for example, it will take ages to go through them all.

If you need to keep stock of the conatiners but not the perfumes, you would need 4 variations and the perfumes could be shown as add-on dropdowns using an add-on or product options plugin.

Alternatively have a look at product bundles. WooCommerce has several premium plugins that may help you, such as:
    https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-mix-and-match-products/
or you can try this one from the plugin repository:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpc-composite-products/

The idea is that the container without perfumes is one product, and the perfumes without a container is another. In a composite/bundle, both must be purchased. I can’t say if this would work for you. You will need to experiment a bit.
