    1. Old was on website example.com
    2. Created a new server different IP and fresh install of WP
    3. Pointed example.com DNS to new server (example.com now showing fresh installation of WP)
    4. Installed migrate guru on fresh wp installation
    5. Input SFTP details for old server, with ‘example.com’ as destination address
    6. Ran migration
    7. All good, everything successful
    8. Go to example.com, and it still shows the fresh installation. Everything is the same *except* the plugins – which leads me to believe files were transferred but not database data

    Hey!

    Thank you for your email.

What you have done here is Migrated everything from example.com onto the old server instead of the other way around.

To migrate the contents from Old Server to the new one, you have to install our Migrate Guru plugin on the website on the older server and migrate the contents to the new server.

The SFTP credentials are required to add files to a website.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

I assume while migrating the DNS for example.com would still need to point to the old server since you need the dashboard accessible to start the migration, right?
