In the GA Statistics, under the Social Networks tab.

The stats show the number of visits that come from socials networks (e.g Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc) and also from “other” sources. The “other” is a combination of both visits from “referrals” and “direct visit”.

This shouldn’t be the case, referrals and direct visits are not social networks.
The social networks tab should only contain visits from social networks.

Secondly, in the dropdown to choose a timeframe for the statistics, why are there no preset timeframes like “Last 7 Days”, “Last 30 Days”, and “Last 90 Days”. Having to select these basic timeframes by using “Custom Range” is tedious.

    Hi @aronu

I hope you are doing well.

I’ve pinged the plugin team about this ticket, from our documentation screenshot: https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/beehive/#statistics-analytics we had the “Last 7 Days”, “Last 30 Days”, and “Last 90 Days” on the past.

We will let you know once hearing back from the plugin team about both situations.

    Best Regards

Yes, as I can recall, “Last 7 Days”, “Last 30 Days”, and “Last 90 Days” were available in old versions of the plugin. It’s not in the present version.

    Hi @aronu

    Our Developer updated.

The dates were modified for a better UX and comparison chart.

We let the team know about the old version and that you find it better, I’m afraid we don’t have plans to modify it but we will track the requests in case it is a common request.

About the “Others”, Google categorize the social network in “Other” category when the actual name of the social network is not available or Google can’t identify it, it isn’t the combination of referrals and direct visit.

Concerning this part of your reply.

About the “Others”, Google categorize the social network in “Other” category when the actual name of the social network is not available or Google can’t identify it, it isn’t the combination of referrals and direct visit.

    Please check again,

From my site’s stats, The “Other” under the Social Networks tab is a combination of “Search Engine”, “Referral” and “Direct” visit.

Not just one site. I have this plugin activated on my other sites.

I can provide you with screenshots if you doubt.

    Hi there @aronu

I just checked on 2 of my test sites running latest Beehive 3.3.7 and I see the date range filters at top-right as expected. Do you not see them there?
    https://monosnap.com/file/sWL32Na8lKDOS8IvJkm3ElUi4ISgBZ

But it looks like you are correct about the weird count in the Social Networks module. On my test sites, I also see “Other” there is equal to the total of everything but “Social” in the Mediums module.

I will report this odd behavior to the developers so they can investigate.

    Cheers!

    Hi again @aronu

Just wanted to let you know that this will be fixed in the next update.

We can’t manipulate the actual data that appears in the “Other” category in the “Social Networks” module, as that’s how the Google API returns the data, but we can exclude that category from results.

So, as of next update, the “Social Networks” module will display only actual social networks, and that confusing “Other” category will no longer display there.

    Cheers!

From what one of your support team said earlier in this thread.

Google categorize the social network in “Other” category when the actual name of the social network is not available or Google can’t identify it

You can just name that category “Other Social Networks” or something else that is not misleading.

I haven’t seen any update from you.

    Hi again @aronu

I did double-check this with the developers.

And as I noted in my last reply to you, that confusing “Other” category will be removed from the Social module, as Google’s API does indeed include unwanted/confusing data in that metric.

So the plugin function for displaying the social networks in that module will be enhanced to return only exact matches for social networks.

    Cheers!

Hello, I have updated to the latest version of Beehive Analytics that you just released. The “Other” stats that we spoke about hasn’t been removed. It is still there.
