Cache timeout and scheduler

  • I have 200-300 posts on my WordPress site, around half of them are visited regularly. I make new posts 2-3 times a week. What values should I set for cache timeout and scheduler for better performance.

    Currently the cache timeout is set at 3600 and the scheduler is set at 600.

  • Those settings will be fine. You could probably make them both higher but there’s no hard and fast rules about this. With that many posts (it’s not a lot), you could set the timeout to a week (604800) and the scheduler high too, but you might find that some taxonomy pages don’t update quickly, like tags or categories.. It’s all a trade off.
