• I’ve used and loved this plugin for over two years on my blog! I’m not sure when it stopped working, but the Qtips no longer work. I updated to the new shortcode with efn_ but that didn’t fix it.

I also installed the JQuery Qtip2 plugin, but that didn’t help either. ??

Is there anything else I can try? I would be so sad to lose the functionality of this lovely plugin!

I wouldn’t recommend installing the jQuery Qtip2 plugin. Easy Footnotes has qTip included in it.

I’d assume this issue came about with updating to WordPress 5.5 and 5.6 which have changed the versions of jQuery used on WordPress. Easy Footnotes has been tested and works with these versions, but it seems like you may have other plugins causing JavaScript errors which can prevent the Easy Footnotes.

You might look at installing the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin to see if it resolves your issue, but also should look at updating any additional plugins to make sure their compatible with WordPress 5.5+.

It also looks like you’re using a caching plugin that is combining and minifying your JavaScript disabling that temporarily can also help to debug the root of the JavaScript errors you’re getting.

If you right click on your page in Chrome and click Inspect Element then go to Console you’ll see a lot of red errors popping up.

Forgot the link to Enable jQuery Migrate Helper. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

Just a reminder that plugin is intended as a temporary fix as WordPress updates the core version of jQuery.

    Hi Jason,

Apologies for my very delayed reply. Thank you for sharing this info. You’re right—I do see a number of errors (all of which I have no idea how to fix)! I will forward your replies to my WordPress developer. Hopefully he can help resolve the issues!

    I appreciate your time.

Thanks, Jason. Installing the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper did the trick for me.
