Our events are placed under one of our 4 ‘platforms’. The permalink for events is however a fixed string in Events Manager (‘events’ when option is empty, or else a string you filled in’).
When users navigate to an event, they see for example:
    station-west.amsterdam/events/[event-name]
They opened the event from a platform page, but the URL of the event doesn’t whow that the event is offered within that platform.

    Better would be:
    station-west.amsterdam/[platform-name]/[event-name]

examples (link to platform pages, then open any event and look at the URL):
    station-west.amsterdam/ams/
    station-west.amsterdam/msc/

When we create events, the platform is the first event-category of the event. I can add this category with a plugin ‘WP Better Permalinks’. This works well with Events Manager, also with recurring events. However, the string ‘events’ remains in the URL. I can change that to ‘platform’, but it would still be a unnecessary element in the URL.

I’ve tried to find the code that handles the ‘dbem_cp_events_slug’ (?), to change that into the first event-category, but didn’t succeed. All other permalink plugins don’t offer the right solution.

Can this be done, and how?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, You can check the options under Events > Settings > Pages > Permalink Slugs

I know…as I wrote, this only offers a fixed string and not a variable, like placeholder or shortcode to insert an event category, so you can make more friendly urls. Or am I missing an option?

at the moment this is not yet possible out of the box and might need custom coding on your part to make this work.
