I have been using this plugin successfully for a year or more now & it has blocked many hacking attempts. I just actioned the Honeypot registration option because the site is under significant hacking attempts (500 attempts in 1 day). I think I also actioned the default maths captcha option at registration but unsure.

Since then no users can get into the backend, including Admin user. Message “Your answer was incorrect” is shown when login is rejected which signifies it’s the Captcha that is the problem (I see no Captcha at login?

The message “An email has been sent to you with the unlock instructions.” does not send an email to the address entered when this dialogue is completed.

    I don’t have a site backup

Is there anything I can do at the server database side to undo these options?

I wondered if a pop-up was being blocked but my webs browser shows no such pop-up being blocked.

On Google Chrome browser I get the message “Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress.” but not on Edge or Brave browsers

If I try a second time I get the message “ERROR: Access from your IP address has been blocked for security reasons. Please contact the administrator.
    Request Unlock”

This is because I have number of failed logins set to block IP address

    Hi,

    I don’t have a site backup

I highly recommend to up date your site fully on a regular basis. This is very critical.

Is there anything I can do at the server database side to undo these options?

I think your best option is to reset the plugin. This will allow you to start from scratch.

The following documentation should help you.

Let me know how you go.

    Thank you

It worked, mbr – thank you again

I didn’t use the reset addon, I just unchecked Login Captcha & Honeypot

As I said we are getting about 400-500 failed logins per day but in the two days that Captcha & Honeypot options were active we only had about 10 failed logins. I might try Honeypot again now that I know how to recover from being locked out?

Edit: Honeypot allows me to login so I will monitor if it cuts down number of failed logins from robots?

Does Captcha work or is there a bug?

    Hi,

Does Captcha work or is there a bug?

Yes it works. However in some cases there might be a conflict with a plugin or the theme.

    Thank you
