    I’m using the plug-in in it’s as-is form – I don’t understand most of the posts here so hope what I’m missing is just a tick-box ??

The trail is fine when I go from page to page EXCEPT when I add a raw link to another page. By raw link I mean I just type the link into the text and WP produces a preview box based on that.

The top level link shows and the page we’ve arrived at appears at the end of the trail, but the page we came via is missing.

TBH, I can live with this, but it would be great to be able to fix it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It appears the behavior your are expecting is that of a path based breadcrumb trail, where the actual path traveled to reach a page (chain of links visited), is represented in the breadcrumb trail. This could be thought of as a recreation of the browser’s history for the user on your site. Out-of-the-box, Breadcrumb NavXT does not generate path based breadcrumb trails. Instead, Breadcrumb NavXT generates locational breadcrumb trails, which operate under the principle that each resource has a specific location within the resource hierarchy in a website, and this location/hierarchy is what the breadcrumb trail displays.

Many thanks for that reply John, it will save me a lot of time messing with settings as I know I won’t get what I want. The plug-in is still useful to visitors as it stands and we will continue to use it as it’s solid and reliable.
