    Sorry but I can not see how to access the actual template pages for the myknowledgebase theme – looked in customise , pages and posts but can not see a link . Please explain

    i) how I find those termplates and download them into the theme;
    ii) any other links to how to use the templates as a knowledge base

    I maintain a site on Key HR Facts for free access which acts as a one stop site summarising the main entitlements of employees/workers and employeres in UK employment law. It has expanded over the years and now I need like a knowledge base template to make it easier for viewers to find a link that takes them direct to the topic they need to look up quickly. I started the original site to make it easier for me to recall such facts and the conditions etc.

    Hi Jim,

    You can select a knowledgebase page template while creating or editing a page. It’s located in the Page Attribute box.

    If you cannot find this box, it may be turned off in the Screen Settings bar (Classic Editor) or the Preferences panel that you can reach via the Options button (Block Editor).

    FYI: if you’re using another theme, you can use my Knowledgebase plugin, to create a simple knowledgebase.

    Guido thank you for replying. Please do not worry about replying immediately as I think we all need a rest day. I found the template page in preferences in the block editor and have started to experiment on page layout and ensuring that readers can get to the facts quickly via the links. I am not an expert at wordpress or website but am learning gradually how to make a theme work in an effective way,

    I am still puzzled how to move the knowledge base forward as I shall have 6-8 main categories and then many sub-topics under each so that users can find the information appropriate to their needs. To experiment I have created a category as I guess the knowledge base works on a hierarchy of categories.

    Presumably those can be linked to either pages or posts. Is there a reason why posts rather than pages, seem to be the preferred means of displaying information in myknowledgebase under categories etc?

    Hi Jim,

    You can find settings in the Customizer, there you can set the number of items per category, for example. To avoid a long list of topics per category. When using the plugin there’s an attribute that you can add to the shortcode.

    Please note it does not support sub categories, they are listed but similar to parent categories.

    And it does not support pages because pages don’t have categories (by default).
