We have a Form Field with a required Select field containing several Options. By default, the first Option is automatically placed in the field. We would prefer it be blank, so that the user would have to chose from the option list.

    Is this possible?

    Ninja Forms “Dev Mode”: Enabled
    WP Version: 5.6.1 – Supported

You can add a selection to the list and set it as the default option. To have it fail the required field check, you will need to remove the value for that list option.
You may need to enable the Developer Mode to see this option. Enabling Developer Mode will “unhide” these features. You can find instructions for how to do it in that link, or simply navigate to Ninja Forms > Settings > Advanced Settings and check the box for “Form Builder Dev Mode”, then save settings.

Thank you for the response Justin, but what you are describing is the problem.

In the past we have added a selection to the list and made it the default, something to the effect of, “(Please choose the best option)”. We receive an unfortunate number of responses that have not changed this.

I do not believe what we are seeking to achieve is unusual nor uncommon; there are countless websites that employ this functionality. Perhaps there is a ‘backdoor workaround’ where one can set the default response as not acceptable?
