New Theme and Flikr

Hello,
Needed some advice on two issues. First; our Flikr plugin has stopped working. I can use a good one on the WP Toolbar where I can click the icon and insert pics. The insert image via a URL is not ideal as it is slow, is not able to resize easily and does not space it. Our tech was not able to find one that he thought was ideal.
The second is the theme. I would like to update so we can have a supported theme and one that allows us to get the https involved. Issues is the tech has said with all the content we have on the right side of the page, we would need one that has a similar layout or the update will be a mess. His take was if it is still working there is no reason to do the hassle. My concern was when the Flikr app stopped working that I needed to at least have some new theme ideas in place.
