• im sure you guys get this alot but it when i search for this it never shows up with people upgrading, just first time installing.

anyways, i downloaded 2.9.2 and installed it through my FTP. my wp-config file was all set, but when i go to /wp-admin/install.php it gives me the following

    Already Installed

You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you’re upgrading, try running wp-admin/upgrade.php

ok i tried that and it says

    No Upgrade Required

Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!

but when i log in to my wordpress it says

WordPress 2.9.2 is available! Please notify the site administrator.

Try re-running the upgrade process via Admin/Tools.

    thats the weird thing…

no where in my dashboard does it allow me to upgrade.

    my dashboard has:
    Posts
    Media
    Links
    Pages
    Comments
    Profile
    Tools

in Tools it only shows me “Turbo” and “Press This” which deals with bookmarks.

Dump your browser cache. It almost sounds like you have something wiggy caught in there.

For some reason I thought someone had mentioned this.

Manually re-upload the files. That is, go get a fresh download of 2.9.2, copy the files up to your server, and go from there.
