    Hi,

    WP Version 5.6.2
    NextGen Gallery 3.8.0

The gallery items are visible on the website, when i log into the admin dashboard i’m unable to add additional images, clicking “Add Gallery / Images” sends me to the home page, other NextGen gallery links are work correctly.

Overview, Manage Albums, Gallery Settings – Works.
Add Gallery / Images – Redirects to homepage.
Manage Galleries: – Works, adding new gallery function tested and working.
Other options: – Works, changes take effect.

    What i’ve tested: –

    1. Disabled all other plugin’s, no change in behaviour.
    2. Deleted plugin and reinstalled, no change in behaviour.
    3. Removed .htaccess file, no change in behaviour.

    Update: –

CP Panel ModSecurity was blocking the process.

  • Same problem here, although I cannot see if the galleries are working, because I can only get to the home page – clicking on the navigation takes me to ‘Home’ every time. Nor can I access most of the dashboard – also redirects to the home page. I cannot access any plugins – redirects to home page too.

What triggered the above problem(s) was trying to resize an image in a gallery.

After that, I also found that the domain had two // in the name, e.g.

    https://mydomain.co.uk//admin.php

To remedy, I’ve had to restore the site from a backup.

this EXACT same thing is happening to me! I disabled plugin and it site works. This is the only site I am having this problem on, so not sure how to fix it but we need to use this plugin!

ModSecurity was blocking the execution of “Add Gallery / images” on my hosting package.

I disabled ModSecurity to troubleshoot and NextGen Gallery worked, this was not an acceptable fix because I would lose a layer of protection against various attacks.

I opted to migrate to another gallery plugin, in the process I did lose some functionality.

Depending on your hosting package options are available especially if you have dedicated hosting.

    1. Contact your host provider to add a modsecurity rule to allow full access from a specific IP address.
    2. If you manage your own hosting package, https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/360058157433-How-to-whitelist-an-IP-address-in-ModSecurity
