    Hi Team,

I’ve searched online for help but no progress. Please I want to customise the error messages on the Log In and registration form. What should I do?

Thanks for your quick response, @champsupertramp

I have checked the link above but it is a bit different. I am searching for a guide to change the Error messages such as ‘The email address is already registered’ etc. on the Log In form and Registration form.

    Hi @maureeno

You can change the specific strings with the English translation file. This is how you change the strings – Please follow the steps in the link: https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1578-change-english-text-in-forms

I’m still unable to see the changes I made to the English translation files.

I’ve updated the error messages with the English translation files in https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1578-change-english-text-in-forms.

I copied the English translation files( ultimate-member-en_Us.po and ultimate-member-en_Us.mo) from /ultimate-member/languages.

    2. Paste the translation files in /wp-content/languages/plugins/

    3. Download the app https://www.poedit.net

    4. Open the English translation file with ultimate-member-en_Us.po file in /wp-content/languages/plugins/ using the PoEdit App.

    5. Saved the edited file in /wp-content/languages/plugins/

    6. Left the orginal file in /wp-content/languages

Visited the page that contains the UM forms but the error message is still the default one. Am I missing anything pls?

    Hi @maureeno

Were you able to locate the strings in the English translation file?

Could you please provide the exact strings that you’re trying to change?

I couldn’t find this in the UM plugin:
The email address is already registered

    Thanks.

Yes, I was able to locate the strings in the English translation file. I’m trying to change(translate) the following source text:

This email is already linked to an existing account

    Your username is already taken

Password is incorrect. Please try again.

    Hi @maureeno

What’s your site’s default language? IS it en_US or en_GB?

    Regards,

    Thread Starter adminB

    (@maureeno)

    It’s in en_GB.

    Thanks.

    Hi @maureeno

Did you make the filename of the translation file to ultimate-member-en_GB.po instead of ultimate-member-en_US.po and then upload it to /wp-content/languages/plugins/ ?

    Regards,

    Thread Starter adminB

    (@maureeno)

In the folder ?? /ultimate-member/languages, the files available are in en_US.po . I just checked again. My site language is in en_US.

I made changes to ultimate-member-en_US.po, saved it and uploaded it to /wp-content/languages/plugins/

Should I delete the original files ultimate-member-en_US.po and ultimate-member-en_US.mo in the folder ?? /ultimate-member/languages

    Hi @maureeno

    Sorry for the late response.

Could you please tell us if you’re still having issues? Have you tried deleting the original files and replace them with the modified ones?
