    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Can you please explain this some more? What exactly is not working? What settings, format, and import source did you choose? Did you get any error messages?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hello,

I’ve put 4 tables in a zip file but when I upload the zip file I get the following message: error: the zip file could not be opened

    Hi,

could you maybe email the ZIP file to me (the address is on https://tablepress.org/impressum/) so that I can take a look at this problem?

What program did you use to create the ZIP archive?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

thanks for that! I can confirm that this file, or other that are create with the “Compress” feature on a Mac can not be imported, it seems. My guess is that these files don’t fulfill some sort of specification, so that they don’t meet certain consistency checks when PHP tries to open the ZIP file. Now, maybe TablePress/PHP is too strict there, and I do see a configuration variable that I could adjust to maybe allow these “inconsistent” ZIP files to work. I’ll have to check for other side effects that such a change would have though, first (e.g. security implications).
Right now, I can therefore only suggest that you import these tables one by one, or maybe use a dedicated app for compressing the files, e.g. https://www.keka.io/ When I use that to create a ZIP file with the CSV files that you sent, the import works for me.

Now, what I find curious is that such an issue has never been reported to me before – and you most likely were not the first person to try to import a ZIP file that was created on a Mac… Maybe Apple changed how ZIP files are created on a Mac? What exact version of macOS are you using?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

I’ve tried with keka and that’s working.

Yes it’s strange that it doensn’t work with iOS. I have version macOS Big Sur 11.2.3.

    With kind regards,

    Hi,

thanks for testing! I’m on macOS 10.5.7 Catalina, so at least we know that it was not a change in Big Sur.

Good to hear that you could successfully test this with Keka! I’ll continue looking into this, to hopefully make it work with the standard macOS Compress feature in the future!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
