Fatal Error messages

  • My website gives me a white page and the following errors:

    Warning: require(/var/sites/g/greensleevesmusic.co.uk/public_html/wp-includes/https-detection.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/sites/g/greensleevesmusic.co.uk/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 174

    Wordpress was set to auto-update. I am suspecting that it has updated to WordPress 5.7 and the above errors are something to do with this. ANy advice?

    Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

    Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Also, once WordPress has released a version (5.7 was released last week), it’s not appropriate to post in alpha/beta and you should post in the Fixing WordPress forum:
